In the Donetsk region, we should not expect a counteroffensive for another six months.

This direction will continue to be defensive.

Military and political commentator Oleksandr Kovalenko said this in an interview with TSN.ua.

"The Donetsk direction will be a defensive bridgehead for Ukraine for at least another six months. We cannot talk about any counteroffensive. But in order to increase the effectiveness of the defense, we need artillery. That is where we need more artillery. These are self-propelled guns, MLRS, mortars, especially when necessary to destroy a large number of infantry units," Kovalenko explained.

The situation in Donetsk region

Russian terrorists have been trying to advance in the Donetsk region since the beginning of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.

Currently, the fiercest battles are taking place near the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, where the Russian occupation army and mercenaries from the "Wagner" PMC have thrown all their efforts and are continuously storming Ukrainian positions.

The Russians are also carrying out terrorist attacks on other cities of Donetsk region, in particular, on January 23, the city of Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region was once again bombarded with rockets.
