Turkish security forces have "neutralized" six Kurdish terrorists in northern Syria, the Turkish Ministry of National Defense announced today, quoted by the Anadolu Agency, BTA reported.

Turkish authorities use the term "neutralization" to mean that the terrorists in question have surrendered, been killed or captured.

The six members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK)/People's Protection Forces (PDF) were neutralized by Turkish commandos in the areas of the Euphrates Shield and Peace Spring operations, the ministry said.

PKK/SZN fighters are hiding in northern Syria, near the Turkish border, where they plan or organize attacks against both local residents and nearby settlements in Turkey.

Since 2016, Ankara has launched three successful counter-terrorism operations across its border in northern Syria to prevent the formation of a terrorist corridor and allow the peaceful settlement of residents: Euphrates Shield (2016), Olive Branch (2018) and " Fountain of Peace" (2019).

The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has waged a terrorist campaign against the Turkish state for more than 35 years and is responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women, children and babies.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU.

The Syrian Kurdish formation People's Protection Forces (PDF) is the Syrian branch of the terrorist group, according to the authorities in Ankara.
