German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius is planning a trip to Ukraine.
Bild am Sonntag writes about it.
"There is no doubt that I will go to Ukraine soon. It will probably happen, maybe within the next four weeks," he commented on the question of where the politician will go first to his new position.
Answering a question about the supply of German Leopard tanks to Ukraine, Pistorius noted that Germany conducts a very close dialogue on this issue with international partners, primarily with the United States.
"In order to be well prepared for possible solutions, I instructed my department to check everything so that we do not waste time unnecessarily if the worst happens," he summarized.
We will remind that Boris Pistorius became the Minister of Defense of the Federal Republic of Germany and took the oath.
He succeeds Christine Lambrecht, who announced her resignation on January 16.
The situation with the transfer of German Leopard tanks to Ukraine
Earlier, the media reported that US Defense Minister Lloyd
Austin, during a meeting with Pistorius
, would insist that Berlin give permission for the supply of Leopard tanks to the Armed Forces.
At the same time, the German Bundestag
was unable to vote on the
issue of providing Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 to Ukraine due to the opposition of several factions.
Also, Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anushauskas said that several countries
will announce plans to send
