[Reporter Chen Xianyi/Taitung Report] A 70-year-old female mountaineer and her party of three entered the mountain at about 9:40 this morning from the Yakou Mountain Trail in Daguan Mountain, Haiduan Township, Taitung County, and fell from the climbing section in about 20 minutes. In the fall, the Guanshan Fire Brigade’s Lidao Branch and the Guanshan Brigade’s Mountain Area Special Team were reported to rush to the rescue. They arrived to assess the injured’s broken hands and lacerations on the head. The rescue went down the mountain, and after 3 hours, it was transferred to the hospital by ambulance personnel at 2:40 pm.

At 9:49 a.m. today, the fire department’s support center received a report that a mountain accident occurred in Nanheng Sanxing Mountain. A female mountaineer, about 70 years old, accidentally fell down a steep slope of about 10 meters from the Yakou hiking trail of Daguan Mountain. In urgent need of rescue, the ambulance of the Lidao Squad of the Guanshan Fire Brigade and 12 rescuers from the Guanshan Brigade’s Mountain Area Task Force rushed to the rescue, and simultaneously notified the police station and the Yushan National Park Management Office. The fire department stated that the rescuers arrived and found that the injured hands were broken and the head was lacerated. They immediately used the long backboard to stop the bleeding and fixed them. They then dragged the rescue down the mountain with a SKED roll-type stretcher. The speed affected the footsteps, and the steep gravel made rescue difficult. The injured were rescued down the mountain at 2:40 p.m. and sent to Taitung Mackay Hospital by ambulance for diagnosis and treatment.
