Assam Chief Minister (Assam CM) Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that he has spoken to megastar Shah Rukh Khan and assured him about the protests against his upcoming film 'Pathan'.

Himanta Biswa Sarma said Shahrukh Khan called him this morning over "an incident" that happened at a theater in the state.

In a tweet, the chief minister said, "Bollywood actor Shri @iamsrk called me and we spoke at 2 am today. He expressed concern about an incident in Guwahati during the screening of his film. I assured him that the law And it is the duty of the state government to maintain order. We will inquire and ensure that no such untoward incident happens."

Came a day after asking.

"Who is Shah Rukh Khan? I don't know anything about him or the film 'Pathan'," Sarma had said yesterday when asked about media persons' violent protest against the film 'Pathan' in Guwahati.

When told by journalists that Khan was a Bollywood superstar, he said that the people of the state should worry about Assamese films and not Bollywood.

Hemant Biswa Sarma had also said that he had not received any call from Shah Rukh Khan and he would look into the matter if the actor requested him.

He also assured action against any protestor who violates the law.

Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathan', which is slated to release on January 25, is facing protests over the song 'Besharam Rang'.

His co-star Deepika Padukone is shown in a saffron bikini in the film.

Regarding this, many leaders including some organizations have demanded a ban on the film.
