[Reporter Cai Zongxian/Pingtung Report] The Spring Festival holiday lasts up to 10 days. Although today is New Year’s Eve, nearly 80% of the accommodation in Hengchun Peninsula is still there. There are traffic surges in the early morning, but there is no such thing as 2,000 trains per hour during the holiday. The police estimate that a large number of outings will start tomorrow (the first day of the Lunar New Year). The police plan intensive diversion measures, deploy aerial cameras to monitor the traffic, and remind the public to follow the instructions.

According to police statistics, there are currently only about 1,300 train trips per hour leading to Taitung and Kenting, which is still far behind the average of 2,000 train trips for vacation trips. Returning to the peak will be on the second and third day of the Lunar New Year, and returning to the north will be concentrated on the sixth and seventh day of the Lunar New Year (the 27th and 28th).

As well as the traffic tide in Kenting, tomorrow morning, the lanes will be allocated from the 436 kilometers (Shuidiliao 5th intersection) to the 445.5 kilometers (Jiahe intersection) on the Taiwan First Line depending on the traffic tide, and the northbound lane will be allocated to the southbound vehicles.
