British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak

Rishi Sunak - British economist and politician. Rishi Sunak was born on May 12, 1980 in Southampton, was fined by the police for taking off his seat belt to record a video for social media in a moving car, BTA reported.

Sunak, 42, apologized for his "misjudgment" as he recorded an Instagram message from the back seat of a government car during a visit to north-west England yesterday.

Lancashire Police said they received information about a video "circulating on social media showing a person not wearing a seatbelt in the passenger seat of a moving vehicle in Lancashire".

Without naming Sunak, the police service added that it had handed "a conditional offer of a fixed penalty to a 42-year-old man from London".

The fine for this offense is up to 500 pounds ($620).

The term "conditional offer" means that the fined person accepts his guilt, but does not have to appear in court.

Police did not specify what fine they imposed on Sunak.

This is the second time in Sunak's political career that he has to pay a fine.

Last year, while finance minister, he was fined £50 for breaching pandemic restrictions by briefly attending a party in government offices.

He was one of dozens of officials fined over the "Partygate" scandal, with then Prime Minister Boris Johnson among those fined.
