APA's Moscow correspondent reports that employees of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Russia, the Russian representative office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, activists of the Azerbaijani Youth Union of Russia and representatives of the diaspora laid wreaths and flowers in front of the national leader Heydar Aliyev's bas-relief in the embassy building, as well as in front of the memorial stand created in front of the building.

Later, an event was held in the guest house of the embassy.

Speaking at the memorial ceremony attended by the ambassadors and military attachés of Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and other countries, Polad Bulbuloglu, the ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia, spoke about the heroism of Azerbaijani citizens who stood in front of the Soviet repression machine and demanded freedom on the night of January 20, 1990.

He noted that at that time, Azerbaijan was living under a blockade and no one heard the true voice of the republic: "On the morning of the events, Heydar Aliyev came to this building with his family members and made accusations against the Soviet leadership, called those bloody events a crime, and this led to the tragedy that happened. it was the first political price given".

The ambassador noted that "Black January" is an unhealed wound of Azerbaijan's history: "Black January was the turning point, the "red line" crossed by the Soviet state in relation to its citizens. I remember how party tickets were collected and burned on the streets of Baku, I remember the inscriptions on the presidential office building. Gorbachev was a fascist. , I remember it was unacceptable to treat people this way. That was the turning point."

Polad Bulbuloglu emphasized that 33 years have passed since those events.

Under the leadership of Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Army liberated our occupied lands.

"Now the soul of the great leader Heydar Aliyev and all our martyrs is happy.

Speaking at the event, Abuzar Bagirov, professor of Moscow State University of International Relations, head of the Russian branch of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union, spoke about the organization of a rally that started on January 20, 1990 and lasted for several days in front of our Permanent Representation in Moscow, and shared his memories of those days.

Speaking at the event, Director of the Russian Institute of Political Studies Sergey Markov, Director of the Institute of Modern State Development, Dmitry Solonnikov, and other speakers called what happened on January 20, 1990 a bloody page in the history of not only Azerbaijan, but the entire USSR and Russia.
