The Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria Karl Nehammer will be on a working visit to Bulgaria on January 23, Monday, at the invitation of the Bulgarian side.

Ensuring the protection of the Bulgarian border and counteracting migration pressure, as well as the application of European law in relation to Schengen, will be the focus of the visit, which was initiated by the head of state Rumen Radev.

In the delegation, led by Karl Nehamer, is Gerhard Karner - Federal Minister of the Interior of Austria.

On January 23, the Bulgarian president will meet the Austrian chancellor at Plovdiv Airport, after which the two will familiarize themselves with the measures taken to protect the EU's external border with Turkey.

Rumen Radev and Karl Nehamer will visit the Regional Border Police Directorate in Elhovo, where the Regional Coordination Center is located, part of the integrated system for monitoring the Bulgarian-Turkish border.

The Bulgarian delegation for the visit to the Bulgarian-Turkish border includes Ivan Demerdzhiev - Acting Deputy Prime Minister for Public Order and Security and Minister of Internal Affairs, Dimitar Stoyanov - Acting Minister of Defense, Adm.

Emil Eftimov - Chief of Defense.

As part of the Austrian Chancellor's visit, a meeting with Prime Minister Galab Donev is planned.
