On January 20, the eighth Ramstein-format international meeting on military aid to Ukraine was held at the American Ramstein Air Base in Germany, which brought together representatives of the defense departments of more than 50 countries.

The meeting was coordinated by the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, and the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov.

US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin said at a press conference following the Ramstein-8 meeting that the partners focused on ensuring that Ukraine had the opportunity and power to make certain successes on the battlefield right now.

"As we saw in the Dnipro, Russia continues to attack Ukrainian critical and civilian infrastructure. Russia continues to strike Ukrainian cities with cruise missiles and drones. As Russia's brutality grows, so does the resolve of this contact group. Several countries, including France, Germany and Great Britain, have helped air defense systems: Germany - Patriot, USA - Patriot missiles and training, Canada bought NASAMS," the head of the Pentagon noted.

What weapons will the allies transfer to Ukraine

  • Air defense from France, Germany and Great Britain, in particular the battery of the Patriot air defense system from Germany and the Avanger air defense system;

  • Patriot missiles, launchers and training from the Netherlands;

  • Canada's purchase of the NASAMS air defense system and shells for it;

Lloyd Austin confirmed that Germany has not yet made a decision on the transfer of Leopard tanks to Ukraine.

He reminded that a number of countries offer tanks to Ukraine from their stocks, in particular, Poland will provide tanks to Ukraine.

"I think you've already heard what the German defense minister said earlier regarding the provision of Leopard 2 tanks. Yes, our focus is on Ukraine having the ability and power to make some progress on the battlefield right now. We understand what time frame are we talking about: from today until spring, when the time will be favorable for a counteroffensive. Speaking of tanks, yes, today Poland is offering tanks to Ukraine. I cannot make any other additional announcements at this time. You heard what the minister said defense of Germany. They are currently not ready to provide Ukraine with a Leopard," he noted.

At the same time, the Minister of Defense of Germany announced a spring package of military aid to Ukraine worth 1 billion euros.

"We are talking in general about a spring package worth more than 1 billion euros," Pistorius informed, adding that the total cost of military aid provided by Germany will exceed 3.3 billion euros.

It will be recalled that Ukrainian President

Volodymyr Zelenskyy

 called on the participants of "Ramstein" to speed up the supply of weapons to the Armed Forces.
