The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia reacted to the indignation of the European Jewish Committee regarding the latest statements of the head of the Russian department,

Sergei Lavrov

.

He compared the West's support for Ukraine to

Adolf Hitler

's decision to kill 6 million Jews during the Holocaust.

The European Jewish Congress stated that they were shocked and outraged by such comments of Lavrov and demanded an apology from him.

However, the Kremlin said that Moscow "is not interested in the opinion of an organization that for many years ignored the catastrophic level of anti-Semitism in Ukraine and discredited itself."

On January 18, at a press conference in Moscow, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia stated that just as Hitler mobilized, conquered and turned most of the European countries against the Soviet Union, the United States also created a coalition of almost all of Europe and is waging war through Ukraine with the same goal - to to achieve a "final solution to the Russian question".

According to Lavrov, just as Hitler wanted to finally solve the "Jewish question", today Western politicians unequivocally declare that Russia must suffer a strategic defeat.

Such statements outraged the White House as well, and the USA immediately reacted to the Russian minister's anti-Semitic statement.

"How dare he compare something to the Holocaust, no matter what, let alone the war they started," said White House national security spokesman

John Kirby

.

— Ukraine did not pose any threat to Russia.

None.

Ukraine does not threaten anyone militarily."

Kirby emphasized that Lavrov's comments are so absurd that there is almost no response to them, "except for the really offensive way in which he tried to put us in the categories of Hitler and the Holocaust."
