On January 19, 2023, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov and the special representative of the NATO Secretary General for the Caucasus and Central Asia Xavier Colomina.

Current issues of the current cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and NATO, as well as regional and international issues, the current situation around the Lachin road were discussed at the meeting.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that the continuous political dialogue between Azerbaijan and NATO contributes to cooperation in various fields.

As a country contributing to international peace and security, Azerbaijan's participation in NATO-led peacekeeping operations is an embodiment of the importance we attach to cooperation in this field.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed the other side in detail about the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the steps taken by Azerbaijan in the direction of advancing the peace agenda, the military-political provocations of Armenia that undermine the peace process, and the continuation of the mine threat.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, speaking about the provocations that caused the protests of the representatives of the Azerbaijani civil society around the Lachin road, said that the unfounded claims about the blockade of the Armenian residents in the territories of Azerbaijan, the situation reaching the level of a humanitarian crisis, do not reflect the truth, and these steps are only justified by the Tripartite Declaration of November 10, 2020. pointed out that it is nothing more than covering up the facts of abuse of the Lachin road, which is intended to be used for humanitarian purposes, and harming the negotiations on the peace agenda.

Despite the non-constructive steps of the Armenian side, it was stated that Azerbaijan is ready to hold the next meeting on negotiations in a short period of time and is determined to advance the peace agenda.

Special representative Xavier Colomina said that mutual visits contribute to the development of cooperation.

Noting with satisfaction Azerbaijan's participation in peacekeeping operations within the framework of NATO, the special representative emphasized that Azerbaijani peacekeepers played an important role in the evacuation of Kabul International Airport.

Between Azerbaijan and NATO in other areas, including energy security, education, etc.

It was noted with satisfaction that cooperation in the fields was carried out.

The presence of tensions in the region is a cause for concern, and the importance of continuing the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia in order to establish peace and security was emphasized.

At the meeting, opinions were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
