New Delhi:

India has asked Pakistan to investigate the allegation of sexual harassment of an Indian woman at the Pakistani High Commission premises.

The Ministry of External Affairs gave this information on Thursday.

A female professor from Punjab has accused an officer posted in the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi of sexual harassment. 

She has accused an officer there of sexual harassment including saying obscenities and using indecent language, asking many objectionable questions.

When asked about this, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi told reporters that the Ministry of External Affairs has taken this complaint seriously.

He said, “We have taken up this issue with the Pakistani authorities.

It has been asked to investigate the matter.

Bagchi said that we have also seen the statement of Pakistan's Foreign Ministry, in which they have said that they are looking into the matter.
