Former British Prime Minister
Boris Johnson
believes that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin strengthened NATO and brought Ukraine closer to joining the Alliance by his actions.
He
stated
this during his interview, European Truth reports.
He noted that before the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, NATO membership was not discussed at all.
"There were not enough people in NATO who could support it, instead there were many who were against it. There was one person who did an incredible thing to bring Ukraine closer to NATO membership - this is Vladimir Putin," Johnson said.
Johnson also expressed confidence that Putin will not use nuclear weapons in the war against Ukraine, because he understands that he will immediately receive a blow in return.
"If Russia uses nuclear weapons, then Putin will simply cease to be a member of human civilization, and all the states that have not decided on a position and thereby allow Russia to feel that not everyone is against it. As soon as Putin does something like that, he will lose them all. In case nuclear strike, I think the West will be forced to strike back. And we told Putin that," Johnson said.
It will be recalled that it was previously reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, in an address to the participants of the World Economic Forum in
Davos, stated that membership in NATO would be "the best guarantee of security" for Ukraine
.
In addition, we previously reported that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg
called for more weapons to be provided to Ukraine already today, declaring that a turning point in the war had arrived
