The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine criticized the desire of leading politicians of Georgia to restore air traffic between Tbilisi and Moscow.

This was announced by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oleg Nikolenko, on Facebook.

Nikolenko commented on the statement of the head of the Georgian pro-government party "Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia" Irakli Kobakhidze, who advocated the restoration of direct flights between Tbilisi and Moscow.

As the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized, Kobakhidze "made such a statement in response to the praise from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation to the Georgian government for not joining Western sanctions against Russia for its aggression against Ukraine."

"Tbilisi and Moscow are exchanging curtseys against the backdrop of Russia's unpunished crimes against the Georgian people and the occupation of part of Georgian territory. We also believe that such pro-Russian rhetoric does not correspond to the spirit of friendly and strategic relations between Ukraine and Georgia, and contradicts Georgia's course for membership in the European Union." Nikolenko noted.

As the spokesman assured, Ukraine - both at the level of the government and at the level of the people - has always stood side by side with Georgia, especially during one of the most difficult days of its history.

"The lack of effective solidarity with Ukraine on the part of some Georgian politicians against the background of Russia's efforts to destroy Ukrainians in a genocidal war is political meanness," he emphasized.

At the same time, Oleg Nikolenko emphasized that "the support of our state by the official authorities of Georgia in resisting Russian aggression and the de-occupation of Ukrainian territory meets the interests of not only Ukraine, but also Georgia."

We will remind you that earlier the Georgian government explained why they do not hand over weapons to Ukraine.
