A very bloody and protracted

war

of attrition continues in Ukraine.

NATO countries must act quickly, because there is no time for discussion - the time has come for concrete actions.

This statement was made by the Israeli military historian Martin van Creveld in a conversation with Onet.

"There must be a big battle.

In two or three months we will expect a big war,

and no one knows how it will end. It is a very bloody and protracted war of attrition. We must be ready for it, because it will last at least a few more months, and maybe even longer. I hope that NATO countries will act quickly, because there is no time for discussion. The time has come for concrete actions. Although the mobilization of Russian troops planned by the Kremlin requires some time, this fact alone should enlighten us," said Israilskyi military historian Martin van Creveld.

According to van Creveld, the movement of Russian troops in Belarus is cause for concern.

However, according to the historian, Oleksandr Lukashenko is biding his time, hoping that he will be able to hold out as long as possible without getting involved in the war.

"The movement of Russian troops in Belarus is also a cause for concern. Vladimir Putin's goal since the beginning of the war was to sway Alexander Lukashenko to his side. This was the goal of Putin's meeting with the Belarusian dictator in Minsk at the end of last year. An intervention, and even more so a joint one, could open a third — the northern one is a front against Ukraine, in addition to the two already existing ones in the east and south," explains van Creveld.

The historian points out that if Ukraine wins the war, NATO and the entire West, in particular, Lukashenka and Belarus, will be in big trouble.

However, if the Russian Federation wins, Belarus will become even more dependent on Russia.

"And if Putin and Russia win, the Belarusian leader may have even bigger problems later, because his country will be forced to become even more dependent on Russia. Therefore, I think that Lukashenko is biding his time, hoping to survive without entering the war for as long as possible." — says van Creveld.

Speaking about the discussions about the Germans' slowness in sending Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, van Creveld explained that "the German people do not want war."

"For many years, because of World War II, it has been guided by the slogan 'nie wieder Krieg', which means 'Enough of the war.' to please their NATO allies, but no more," added Martin van Creveld.

We will remind you that on the morning of January 19, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi spoke about the

state of the war and when and under what conditions Ukraine will be able to achieve success on the battlefield.

As reported, Polish General Waldemar Skzypchak warned that

Russia may attack Ukraine from its own territory,

and the Belarusian direction will only divert attention.

In his opinion, the Russian Federation can strike from the direction of Voronezh, Kursk, and Bryansk, moving from there in a southern direction, west of Kharkiv, along the Vorskla River, which flows into the Dnipro.

Under this scenario, Poltava and Dnipro are under attack.

Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov previously stated that  in the

spring the Russians may advance from the areas

they have already occupied in the south and east of Ukraine.
