Russian dictator Vladimir Putin spoke about the reasons for launching a full-scale war against Ukraine, which the Russian Federation calls a "special military operation" ("SVO").

He decided to talk about this at a meeting with veterans of the Second World War on January 18.

Thus, according to the absurd words of the head of the Kremlin, Russia started a large-scale war against Ukraine in order to stop the war that began in 2014 in the East.

"Full-scale hostilities in Donbas have not stopped since 2014, and all actions of Russia, in particular the special operation, are aimed at ending this war. Everything we do today, in particular the "SVO", is an attempt to stop this war, that is the meaning of the SVO. To protect our people who live there. These are our historical territories, we have come to terms with this historically, but we could not help but react to what happened there after the coup," said the dictator of the aggressor country.

Large-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine

We will remind you that on February 24, 2022, Russia launched a large-scale offensive against Ukraine, launching a series of missile strikes on populated areas in almost all regions.

Moreover, the Russian army tried to seize Kyiv, occupying part of the Kyiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions.

At the end of March, in April, these territories were deoccupied.

In addition to these regions, the Russian Federation also occupied parts of the Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions.

It is worth noting that during the almost 11 months of the war, Putin's objectives of the "SVO" were constantly changing - from "denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine" to "protection of the Russian Federation and the LDPR".
