[Reporter Cai Wenju/Tainan Report] The first batch of rescued black-faced spoonbills in 2023 was successfully released today. Among the 6 black-faced spoonbills released in the wild, one "H66" was released in South Korea in 2016. It is also lucky this time Rescued and returned to nature.

Lin Dairong, Director-General of the Tainan Wild Bird Society, said that between January 5 and 8 this year, conservation volunteers and patrols successively found 8 black-faced birds in Qigu and 2 limp black-faced birds that could not fly in the grass in Annan District. The spoonbill, suspected to have eaten dead fish, caused botulism. It was rescued by volunteers from the Taiwan Black-faced Spoonbill Conservation Society, Chigu Station of the Endemic Biology Center, and the Tainan Bird Association. It was sent to Tainan Mercy Animal Hospital for treatment. After first aid, 6 survived smoothly.

The Tainan Bird Club stated that the six black-faced spoonbills, numbered H66, N48, and N50~N53, were carried by conservation volunteers to Tucheng and Chiguding Mountains in Annan District for release today.

Among them, H66 was released in South Korea on June 21, 2016. It was sighted in Sanliao Bay, Tainan on November 2, 2016. This was the first sighting record of H66 in Taiwan. There are 97 return records, including Budai in Chiayi, Yuchang in Annan District, Chiguzhu Habitat, Mai Po in Hong Kong, etc.
