Christians of the Eastern rite celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord on January 19, and it is preceded by Epiphany.

Accordingly, on January 18 and 19, churches sanctify water, which is considered holy and healing.

What is holy water?

This is ordinary water in composition and origin, which, after performing a prayer called water consecration, acquires healing properties according to the faith of people who use it devoutly.

When and where to collect water for Baptism - January 18 or 19

Water can be collected in the temple after the evening of January 18, when it will be consecrated, and at any time on January 19.

Believers can choose any of these days, since the consecration takes place in the same way.

Agiasma, as holy water is called (translated from Greek "shrine") has miraculous and healing properties.

The church emphasizes that it is not enough to come to the church and collect water.

The power of water is in its symbolic meaning of a blessing from God, in the spirituality and faith of the one who uses it.

Consecrated water is able to preserve its healing properties for a long time, but for this Christians must follow God's laws.

Water can be collected in small containers and consecrated in the temple.

You can also collect water right away in the temple or in a consecrated reservoir.

To sanctify water from home, it must be collected in advance in a container and brought to the temple.

How to store holy water

Consecrated water is stored in clean glass containers, it is not put in the refrigerator, it is best to store it together with other devotions.

If the water has spoiled, and this sometimes happens, the water should be poured, but not into the sewer.

It is better to pour this water on a plant in a pot, a tree or pour it where no one goes.

How to use holy water

Consecrated water should be used for all kinds of good, it can be sprinkled to bless people, animals, plants, and the home.

It is believed that the holy water\ helps expel all evil.

It is better to take such water every day on an empty stomach and with prayer.

When you are sick, you can and should drink water at any time.
