The police detained a truck driver who collided with a passenger bus in the village of Gamalivka, near Lviv.

As a result of the

accident

, 28 people, all passengers of the minibus, three of whom were children, were injured.

This was reported to the police of the Lviv Region.

As the law enforcement officers have previously established, the driver of the "MAN" truck with a semi-trailer, a 49-year-old resident of Khmelnytskyi region, while leaving the main road, did not give way to a BAZ shuttle bus driven by a 41-year-old resident of one of the villages of the Lviv district, as a result of which a collision occurred .

The impact caused the bus to overturn on its side.

At the time of the road accident, there were 38 passengers in the minibus - 28 of them were injured.

The age of the victims is from 3 to 83 years old.

Among the injured are a 3-year-old child and two minors aged 10 and 17, all residents of Lviv and the region.

According to the fact, the investigators opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The sanction of the article provides for punishment - deprivation of liberty for a period of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of up to three years or without it.

The truck driver was detained, and soon the court will choose a preventive measure for him.

We will remind you that the traffic accident happened on January 17 at around 17:30 on the highway "Kyiv-Chop" near the village of Gamalivka, Lviv district.

As reported in the Lviv City Council, as of January 18, 16 victims are in city hospitals, the rest were released for outpatient treatment after assistance.

"Three patients remain in the intensive care unit, their condition is serious, but stable. Three children were hospitalized: two were operated on, their condition is stable. 6 adult patients were immediately operated on, three of them remain in a serious condition. The condition of the other patients is moderate to mild," - said the head of the surgical department of the First Medical Association of Lviv, Hnat Gerych.

All patients have severe combined body injuries of different areas, face, limbs, chest, abdomen.

The patient in the most serious condition is 51 years old.

She has a severe craniocerebral injury with hemorrhage in the brain, fractures of the bones of the base of the skull, multiple blunt-scalping wounds of the head, trauma to the chest, multiple bone fractures, and a contusion of both lungs.

She is connected to a ventilator, but her condition is stable.
