A professor from the University of Architecture in Sofia was arrested for pedophilia.

The arrest took place last night in the capital's "Mladost 3" district, Bulgaria on Air reported.

Georgi Ivanov, a 34-year-old professor at the university, has been corresponding for nearly a month with a fake profile of a girl, says Alen Simeonov from the civil initiative "Pedophile Hunters".

The man tried to persuade a 13-year-old girl to sexual acts.

"He wrote to our female profile where he was told that he was corresponding with a 13-year-old girl. Obviously, he had no problem with that and his expectations from the girl were other than to have sex, be boyfriends and build a family," says Alain.

Yesterday they arranged a meeting with a fake girl, and immediately after that they caught him.

Police officers from the capital's Seventh District Office also arrive at the scene.

"He lied to the police officers themselves about his age, he presented himself as 31 years old, but he is 34 years old. In the chat itself he said he was an engineer, live he said he worked in an office in the field of economics. He turned out to be a lecturer at the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences" , Allen stated.

An educational mediator from Parvomaisko lived with a 13-year-old girl

The University of Architecture, Construction and Geodesy confirmed that the man has recently worked as an assistant at the educational institution.

If the investigation shows that the teacher is guilty, the university management is adamant that they will apply the law with all its rigor.

The prosecutor's office announced that pre-trial proceedings had been initiated in the case.

The man was detained for 72 hours. 

"The Sofia District Prosecutor's Office prosecuted a 34-year-old man who collected information about a minor with the aim of committing lewd acts. 

A request will be submitted to the Sofia District Court to determine a remand measure "detention in custody" against the 34-year-old man.
