[Reporter Chen Jiayi/Taipei Report] In order to increase land for domestic high-tech industries, the National Science Council South Science and Technology Administration is expected to set up a science park around the Pingtung high-speed rail designated area.

The environmental impact assessment task force held the third preliminary review meeting of the environmental impact assessment of the "Southern Science Park Pingtung Park" today (16). Residents’ health caused multiplicative impacts. After supplementing the information, it was agreed to pass the preliminary review of the environmental impact assessment, and the whole case was sent to the environmental impact assessment conference for review.

"Southern Science Park Pingtung Park" is located in Pingtung City, with a development area of about 73.83 hectares. It is currently the Liukuaicuo Farm of Taisugar. It is expected to introduce emerging technology industries such as smart agricultural medicine, green materials, space technology, and net-zero technology.

Su Zhengang, director of the Nanke Administration Bureau, said that the location of the Nanke Pingtung Park is close to the scheduled high-speed rail Pingtung Station, and the high-speed rail link to the South Taiwan Science and Technology Corridor can increase manufacturers' willingness to invest and accelerate local development.

Nanke Pingtung Park is expected to provide 4,800 to 5,400 job opportunities.

In addition, in order to attract talents to settle in, it is also planned to set up Pingke Experimental Middle School near Nanke Pingtung Park.

However, Wang Taiyi, the head of the local Qianjinli, believes that there are already many factories in the vicinity of Qianjinli, causing local residents to suffer from air pollution, traffic, garbage problems, and even face health threats such as cancer. When talking about plans, "the lives of residents cannot be put on the sidelines and only take care of enterprises."

The Environmental Protection Committee is also quite concerned about the multiplicative impact the park will have on the health of the surrounding residents.

Since the area near the planned site has previously passed the expansion plan of the Pingtung Science and Technology Industrial Park of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Environmental Protection Commission requires that the health risk assessment of the park must be combined with the existing park and expansion area of the Pingtung Science and Technology Industrial Park; if the future When the number of manufacturers in Nanke Pingtung Park reaches 80%, health risk assessment must be performed again; in addition, chemical operation inventory management and discharge supervision also need to establish a joint management mechanism with Pingtung Science and Technology Industrial Park.

Due to the vast area of the park, the Eastern Barn Owl may appear here.

The Environmental Protection Committee suggested expanding the area of the Oriental Barn Owl friendly establishment, and experts and scholars must also be consulted for relevant conservation plans; representatives of the Forestry Bureau also requested that the South Branch Management Bureau ensure that the Oriental Barn Owl will not be attacked by stray dogs.

Su Zhengang responded that he would evaluate the feasibility of expanding the friendly cultivation area for the Oriental Barn Owl from 0.5 hectares to 0.8 hectares.

In addition, because the environmental survey data showed that the fish body has high arsenic content, the Environmental Protection Committee also requested to clarify the problem, propose specific countermeasures, and evaluate whether to tighten the detection standards for arsenic content in water quality.

After the whole case was discussed by the Environmental Protection Committee, it was considered that after the Nanke Administration Bureau supplemented and corrected relevant materials, it could be sent to the Environmental Impact Assessment Conference for review.

Wang Taiyi, the head of the local Qianjinli, believed that there were already many factories in the vicinity of Qianjinli, and asked to solve the problem of the current deterioration of the quality of life of the residents before discussing the plan.
