Finland's position on providing Leopard tanks to Ukraine depends on Germany, Finnish Defense Minister Miko Savola said today, adding that a permit from Germany is required for the export of German-made equipment, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

"It is very much up to the German leadership how we proceed with these Leopard tanks. This requires a German export permit, and in addition the German defense industry has a very large role in how replacement equipment can be acquired," he said. Savola.

Last week, Finnish President Sauli Niinistö said his country could give Ukraine a small number of Leopard 2 tanks if a larger group of European countries decided to do so as well.
