[Reporter Wang Shuxiu/Tainan Report] In response to the coming of the Lunar New Year, the Health Bureau of the Tainan City Government recently went to food manufacturers, sales venues, and catering establishments within its jurisdiction to conduct random food inspections for the Spring Festival. 100 pieces of food were inspected, and 6 of them did not meet the requirements. Three of them detected pesticide residues, and the other three were heavy metals exceeding the standard.

The Health Bureau sent personnel to traditional markets, supermarkets, stores, banquet restaurants, and online shopping food manufacturing industries to sample and test fresh fruits and vegetables, New Year vegetables, fresh poultry, livestock and aquatic products, bamboo fungi, pickled vegetables, nuts, and wet rice products (sweet rice cakes) , radish cake, fat cake, cake, etc.), candied and salted fruit, soy products, edible mushrooms, etc., a total of 100 pieces.

The inspection items include pesticide residues, hygienic indicator bacteria, animal drugs, maleic acid, preservatives, fungicides, bleaching agents, coloring agents, heavy metals, etc. The inspection results were 94 pieces that met the requirements, and 3 pieces of Brazil mushrooms were detected with heavy metals ( Cadmium) exceeded the limit in food. 1 piece of kidney beans, 1 piece of eggplant, and 1 piece of Brazil mushroom were found to have pesticide residues exceeding the limit.

The Health Bureau stated that heavy metals that do not meet the "Hygienic Standards for Contaminants and Toxins in Food" violate Article 17 of the Food Safety and Sanitation Management Law, and should be confiscated and destroyed in accordance with Article 52, Item 1, Subparagraph 2 of the same law. Paragraph 8 of Article 48 of the same law stipulates that those who do not make corrections within the time limit after being ordered to make corrections shall be fined not less than 30,000 yuan but not more than 3 million yuan.

If the residual pesticide content does not meet the "Pesticide Residue Allowable Standard", it is a violation of Article 15, Item 1, Subparagraph 5 of the Food Safety and Sanitation Management Law "The residual pesticide or animal drug content exceeds the safe allowable amount", and is in accordance with Article 44 of the same law Item 1, Subparagraph 2, the responsible operator may be punished with a fine ranging from 60,000 yuan to 200 million yuan.

If the source cannot be accounted for, the seller may be fined not less than 30,000 yuan but not more than 3 million yuan in accordance with Article 47 of the same law.

The Health Bureau calls on those who engage in food manufacturing and sales to comply with the "Food Safety and Sanitation Management Law", and the production and sales process should comply with the "Food Good Hygienic Practice Guidelines" to ensure food safety and hygiene.
