Nirmala Sitharaman reminded that the present government has not imposed any new tax on the middle class.

New Delhi:

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget 2023 on 1 February.

Every year the budget comes, so the salaried people keep an eye on whether they are getting any tax exemption or not.

For the past several years, there has been disappointment on this front.

The complaint has increased in the middle class that the maximum burden is on them and they have to pay maximum taxes.

However, even now Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is not promising Income Tax Exemption.

She is just saying that she is understanding the problems of the middle class.

Before presenting the budget in Parliament, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in an interview to Panchjanya, "I too belong to the middle class... I am able to understand the pressure of the middle class."

He reminded that the present government has not imposed any new tax on the middle class.

He told that our government has made income up to Rs 5 lakh tax free.

Sitharaman said that our government has increased the capital expenditure to Rs 7.5 lakh crore.

This has seen a positive effect on the economy.

However, the middle class is not satisfied that the new tax has not been imposed on it.

Their complaint is that they have not received income tax exemption for many years.

NDTV talked to such middle class salaried people.

Delhi resident Nirmal Kumar says, "Tax relief must be given. Inflation has been very high in the last few months. People's salary has become good. In such a situation, tax exemption should be given. Savings are not being done".

Nirmal Kumar's friend Tarun said, "The money we deposit in the savings fund also comes under the tax net. For people to be able to live properly, it is necessary to give relief in the tax rate. For a long time Tax relief has not been given. We are not able to save the money we get. If we get tax relief, our savings will increase.

SP Sharma, Chief Economist, PHD Chamber of Commerce in Industry, says, "In view of the slowdown in the international economy, if middle class taxpayers are given tax relief, it will benefit the economy."

Speaking to NDTV, SP Sharma said, 'It is most important at this time to increase the consumption demand in the economy.

This will happen only when more money will be left in the hands of the middle class.

The income of the middle class has been stable for some time now.

The last few years have been difficult years.

Right now the tax burden on the middle class is high.

If people get tax relief, consumption demand will also increase.

People will spend more.

This will also improve the economy.

We believe that the middle class should be given good relief in the budget.

However, according to Nityanand, director of the Council for Social Development, it may be difficult for the finance minister to give more tax relief in the current situation.

He said, 'Tax relief is being demanded from the middle class.

This demand is also reasonable.

Tax relief has not been given for many years, but now it is difficult for the government to give this relief.

The tax exemption limit may increase slightly, but the government does not have much room to give relief.

Ever since Nirmala Sitharaman became the Finance Minister, the middle class has been expecting that it will get some relief in the tax rate in the budget.

During the Corona virus, the earnings of the common people were affected.

Last year the inflation rate has also been very high.

In such a situation, it will be interesting to see whether this time in the budget, what special comes out for the middle class from the Finance Minister's box.
