[Reporter Ou Sumei/Taichung Report] The Bat Cave trail in Taiping District, Taichung City was affected by typhoons and heavy rains in the mountains last year. The side slopes of the trail collapsed, destroying boardwalks and other facilities and affecting the safety of tourists. The Taichung City Tourism Bureau spent 6.74 million yuan on repairs. Construction of rock wall protection facilities, wooden pile barges, water interception and masonry ditch, wooden plank road repair, platform panels and ladders, and replacement of guardrails have recently reopened for use.
Chen Meixiu, director of the Tourism Bureau, said that the collapse site is located in a mountainous area, and some machinery and equipment are not easy to reach. The construction space in the work area is narrow, and the local terrain factors have weathered rock walls, which is prone to the risk of joint surface collapse. When working on slopes, it is not easy to pay attention to the collapse of rock walls and soil and rocks, and at the same time to implement steel cable protection works on the slope.
