New Delhi:

An aircraft going from Nepal's capital Kathmandu to Pokhara crashed on Sunday.

There were 68 passengers and four crew members on this aircraft.

68 people died in this incident.

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the incident of the plane crash.

PM Modi has tweeted that he is hurt by the tragic air crash in Nepal, in which precious lives including Indian citizens have been lost.

 The twin-engine ATR 72 aircraft was being operated by Yeti Airlines.

At the same time, 5 Indians were also aboard the plane.

The airlines said in a statement that there were 53 Nepalese, 5 Indians, 4 Russians, 2 Koreans and 1-1 citizens of Argentina, Ireland, Australia and France on board the aircraft.

Nepalese journalist Dilip Thapa told NDTV that the massive fire in the debris is making the rescue operation difficult. 

Nepal's Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' called an emergency cabinet meeting immediately after the accident.

The Government of Nepal has constituted a five-member inquiry commission to investigate the incident.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, the aircraft took off from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu at 10.33 am.

The aircraft was about to land at Pokhara airport when it crashed on a jetty on the banks of the Seti River.

The accident happened about 20 minutes after take-off.
