After snowfall, the number of tourists has increased at hill stations.

Shimla:

After the fresh snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, the number of tourists has increased in Shimla, Manali and Kufri and at least 70 percent of the hotel rooms are full.

As many as 7,164 vehicles entered Shimla via the Shoghi border during the 12-hour period that ended at 8 pm on Friday.

Prince Kukreja, vice-president of the Shimla Hotel and Restaurant Association, said that there is a possibility of 10 percent more increase in the booking of hotel rooms by the evening. 

Police have advised tourists before planning to visit Shimla to keep in mind the heavy traffic, drive carefully on slippery spots and contact 0177-2812344 or 112 in case of emergency.

Police said that due to the debris accumulated on the roads after the rains, pedestrians may face problems and people should come out only after removing the snow.

It is noteworthy that Manali received 23 cm of snow, while Khadrala received 16 cm, Shillaru 16 cm, Kufri 12 cm, Bharmour 10 cm, Shimla and Gondala six cm each, Dalhousie and Kalpa four cm each and Hansa Keylong has received three centimeters of snow.

The Meteorological Center has forecast that dry weather may prevail for the next four days and the lower hilly areas may remain in the grip of dense fog and cold wave between January 14 and 17. 

Tourist Shekhar who came from Delhi told that we are excited to see snowfall this morning and are going towards Kufri.

Due to snowfall, about 250 roads including 177 of Lahaul-Spiti, 21 of Shimla, 14 of Chamba, 11 of Kinnaur, 10-10 of Mandi-Manali, two and four national highways of Kangra are closed for vehicles and about 623 power transformers. supply has been interrupted. 

Lahaul-Spiti's tribal-dominated Keylong was the coldest place in the state at minus 7.9 degrees Celsius on Friday night, while Kalpa was the second coldest place at minus 2.6 degrees Celsius. 

Meanwhile, the tourist resort of Narkanda recorded minus 2.5 degrees Celsius.

Kufri and Manali also recorded a minimum temperature of minus 0.8 degrees and 0.2 degrees, respectively. 

An official of the Agriculture Department said that with the snowfall and rains, the dry period has come to an end and the rain deficiency has come down to 68 percent in the month of January.

He told that due to the continuation of rains, the loss of wheat and vegetables will come down to 20 to 25 percent and 10 to 15 percent of the areas respectively.
