On Thursday, January 19, Metropolitan Epiphany of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine

will

perform a divine service on the occasion of the Baptism of the Lord in the Assumption Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.  

This was announced on Facebook by Yevstratiy Zorya, deputy head of the Department of External Church Relations of the OCU.

"We inform you that the solemn divine liturgy on the occasion of the feast of the Epiphany, the Baptism of our Lord Jesus Christ, the head of the OCU Epiphany will perform on January 19, 2023 in the Assumption Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra," the message reads. 

He emphasized that the OCU received permission from the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, and a corresponding agreement was signed with the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve.

"The service begins at 9:00 a.m. We ask that you understand the security measures and possible restrictions that will apply due to the martial law," the OCU urged.

Metropolitan Epiphany of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine held a

in the Assumption Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which was returned to state control after the end of the UOC MP's lease.

On Orthodox Christmas, on January 7,

a carol in Ukrainian was played for the first time

in the Assumption Cathedral of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra .

Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy, noted that the

state will not transfer property to religious organizations for long-term lease free of charge.
