İbrahim Kalın, the official representative of the Turkish president, said that the country is not in a position to ratify Sweden's entry into NATO.

According to APA, the French newspaper "Le Figaro" reported on this.

"We cannot send the law to the parliament for ratification, we have a real problem with this issue," said the representative of the Turkish president.

According to him, deputies can refuse ratification.

According to Kalı, Turkey has no fundamental objection to Sweden and Finland joining NATO, but for this the two countries must fulfill a number of Ankara's conditions.

"In general, we would like to see them in NATO," Kalin said.

Before that, Turkey, Finland and Sweden signed a tripartite memorandum that removed the obstacles for joining NATO.

The memorandum is related to the banning of the activities of organizations known as terrorists in Turkey, as well as the removal of restrictions on the defense industry in Ankara.

Stockholm and Helsinki told Ankara that the adoption of the law requires some time.

It should be noted that Finland and Sweden applied for NATO membership in 2022.

Out of the 30 countries of the Alliance, only Turkey and Hungary have not ratified the application.
