New Delhi:

Suriname President Chandrika Prasad Santokhi says that India and Suriname can come closer through Bollywood.

In a special conversation with NDTV, he said, "Hindi language is prevalent in Suriname.

Indians talk in this language at home, in temples.

But there is another language also which we call 'Sarnami Hindi', it is more widely spoken.

He said that I believe that Bollywood has an important role in this.

On asking Santokhi about his favorite film, he said, "To be very honest, when I was young, I used to watch Bollywood movies everyday.

I saw the film 'Sholay' six-seven times.

Was excited every time.

He said that old songs are my favourite.

Lata Mangeshkar, Mukesh, Rafi, Kishore give me a very good feeling.

Other music makes your body dance, but that music gives peace to the soul.

He said, "After getting free from my work, I like peace and music.

I like Lata's bhajans.

Bhajans give me a feeling of spirituality.

In my country, new Bollywood films and new actors are making an impact on the people of my country."

Santokhi said, "There was a meeting in Indore, with that we will be able to move forward.

The Government of India has set up a Regional Training Center in Suriname.

You can learn Hindi language there.

Cultural training, religion training is being done there.

I believe that we will be able to move forward with our people's language, our tradition, our religion.

The society seen here can help the people of Suriname.
