The leaders of the countries discussed the priorities while working in the G7 and the importance of further coordination within the association to support the rules-based international system against the background of new global challenges.

"They will support close cooperation between G7 members in order to condemn Russia's unjustified and illegal aggression against Ukraine and protect Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity," Trudeau said.

The Prime Ministers also expressed concern about the wide global impact of Russian military aggression against Ukraine, especially for the Global South due to rising prices for food and other goods.

"They promised to work together, including with G7 partners, to find ways to mitigate this impact, especially on the most vulnerable people," the Canadian Prime Minister's office noted.
