The director of "Serbiagaz" Dusan Bayatovic said today that the gas connection with Bulgaria will be completed by the beginning of the next heating season, Serbian media reports.

At the moment, about 50 percent of the pipes have been purchased, and about 90 percent of the route has been cleared.

About 25 percent of the pipes have been welded and laying should begin.

The expropriation has been completed successfully, Bayatovic told Serbian national broadcaster RTS.

According to him, there will be no problem with the completion of the Serbian route from Nis to Dimitrovgrad.

According to him, the Bulgarian side will make the first welding by February 1.

Bayatovic expects the interconnector, which will connect the Serbian and Bulgarian gas systems, will provide an opportunity for diversification.

Bayatovic noted that the Bulgarian section is lighter and shorter than the one in Serbia, adds Tanjug.

The director of "Serbiagaz" commented that it is good that there is a drop in gas prices on the stock exchange and explained that Serbia has two billion cubic meters of gas according to the oil formula, which now gives a price of 396 dollars for 1000 cubic meters.

President Vučić: The construction of the Serbia-Bulgaria gas interconnector should be completed by September 2023.

According to him, then the contract will be concluded for three years, and the price of gas will be calculated according to the oil formula, which means from 310 to 408 dollars per 1000 cubic meters.

Vucic noted then that this price is the best in Europe, TASS recalls.

Bayatovich told RTS that the deliveries of Russian gas via TurkStream are being carried out without any problems.

He added that Serbia has enough transport capacity and that all compressor stations are in perfect condition, and in storage in Hungary, Serbia has more than 280 million cubic meters of gas, while in Banatski Dvor storage there is 286 million cubic meters of gas.

Bayatovic assured that Serbia is energy assured.
