, the new strain of the ХВВ.1.5 coronavirus, which has already been recorded in 29 countries, has not been detected as of the beginning of January.

This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Health, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Ihor Kuzin.

According to the Ministry of Health, the situation with the course of the coronavirus is currently under control.

The main option to protect yourself from a severe course of the disease for COVID-19 and potentially new sub-variants is vaccination.

Anyone who can is advised to get vaccinated as soon as possible, as XBB.1.5 is more serious than other circulating sub-variants.

"If you are in safe conditions and have the opportunity to see a family doctor, do not delay and get the necessary vaccination against COVID-19. Currently in Ukraine there are about eight million doses of three types of vaccine: single-dose Johnson & Johnson, two-dose Pfizer (child and adult forms ) and CoronaVac," said Ihor Kuzin.

He clarified that since the beginning of the vaccination campaign, 15.4 million Ukrainians have received two doses of the vaccine against COVID-19.

About 12.4 million did not receive the first booster, that is, they do not have full protection.

By the way, in the Russian Federation, the first case of the disease of the subvariant of the "Omicron" strain XBB.1.5, which was named "Kraken", was registered.

On January 12, it became known that the first Russian patient with "Kraken" was discovered in the Penza region of the Russian Federation.

"Kraken" is already second only to the original "Omicron" subtype,

or 40% of all confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in the United States.

However, despite the spread of the new strain of coronavirus, China has 

rejected US proposals for vaccines against COVID-19.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said that China's vaccines and medical drugs are "generally sufficient."
