President Volodymyr Zelenskyi emphasized that rhetoric about NATO's "open door" for Ukraine is not enough today.

Our country expects real steps from the Alliance.

He said this on January 11 during a joint briefing with the presidents of Poland and Lithuania in Lviv.

"Today, simply supporting Ukraine in the form of rhetoric about an open door is not enough. Namely, it is not enough to motivate our state, and to be more specific, it is not enough to motivate our soldiers," Zelenskyy said.

He noted that the status of a candidate for joining the EU is the best motivation for Ukraine.

"We need steps forward. The decision will be in Vilnius. We are very much expecting strong steps. We are expecting something more than an open door. Such things are motivating, like EU candidacy. That all this is true, that we are not being fed promises, that really we are seen among equals. The opening of the dialogue on joining the EU this year motivates to fight. Just like the steps forward at the Vilnius Summit," said the president.

We will remind you that on Wednesday, November 11, the presidents of Poland Andrzej Duda and Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda arrived in Lviv for a meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

The leaders of the three states signed a joint declaration of the Presidents of the Lublin Triangle.

President Andrzej Duda promised that Ukraine will receive a company of Leopard tanks from Poland.
