The armed forces of Ukraine will be able to use new western offensive weapons, in particular armored vehicles, at the front in late January - in February.

Military expert, reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Roman Svitan

told about this  on the air of the all-Ukrainian telethon broadcast by the TSN YouTube channel.

"

At the moment, the Ukrainian army lacks armor and artillery means of destruction, cannons

. The main combat damage is inflicted on the enemy by artillery - up to 90%. And any offensive without armor is suicide. That is why they are beginning to transfer to us, we see in the aid packages, the supply is increasing of army artillery and armor," said Svitan.

According to him, Western countries have decided to transfer offensive weapons to Ukraine - self-propelled guns, armored vehicles, which the Armed Forces lack.

"What we are already hearing is the transfer of Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, a good American tank-killing machine, and the German Marder and the French AMX-10RC wheeled tanks. Even Britain has already announced the transfer of Challenger-2 heavy tanks. The Poles are transferring 10 tanks to us "Leopard-2, Finland announced readiness to transfer Leopard. There are still questions about the American Abrams, but they are coming to Poland, more than 100 machines, to perform certain tasks," the military expert said.

As Svitan explained, the Ukrainian army is at the stage of accumulating means to carry out offensive tasks.

"

They are being handed over to us now. I think we will receive them in the next month or two

. Our crews are preparing to receive them. 2-3 weeks for the crew of any machine of this level is enough time for it to be able to perform combat missions.

Finally in January-February, we will see all this weaponry on the front line during the execution of offensive tasks of the Ukrainian army

," he predicts.

We will remind, in a recent interview with the British mass media, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Valery Zaluzhnyi

said that the Defense Forces of Ukraine need 300 tanks, 600-700 BMPs and 500 howitzers to enter the front line on February 23.

On January 6, the United States announced a record package of military aid for Ukraine.

The new package of military aid, in addition to Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, which the Armed Forces will receive for the first time, will include self-propelled howitzers, MRAPs and other armored personnel carriers, as well as additional equipment.

Germany will join the US in supplying Ukraine with Patriot systems.

In addition, Germany will transfer about 40 Marder BMPs and one Patriot air defense system to Ukraine in the first quarter of 2023.
