[Reporter Cai Sipei/Taipei Report] The by-election for the legislators of Taipei's third electoral district (Zhongshan and Beisongshan) has just ended. Democratic Progressive Party candidate Wu Yinong narrowly defeated KMT candidate Wang Hongwei by about 5,780 votes.

There are voices within the Democratic Progressive Party, calling for the expulsion of Taipei City Councilor Wang Shijian and legislator Gao Jiayu.

However, Wang Hongwei called on the top DPP officials to understand public opinion.

Wang Hongwei went to the intersection of Bei'an Road and Chongshi Road to thank votes this morning. When interviewed, she was asked about the DPP arresting war criminals after the election and intending to expel Wang Shijian and Gao Jiayu.

Wang believes that this is a domestic matter within the DPP, but he calls on the top management of the DPP to understand the public opinion, why Wang Shijian and Gao Jiayu's demands have received more public support, and the outside world can also use this to examine whether the DPP has really reformed and reflected.

Wang expressed his gratitude to the voters in Beisongshan and Zhongshan District for giving her a chance. No matter what opponent she meets next time, she will work hard to win more people's approval.

Zhang Yazhong, the principal of Sun Wen School, announced today that he will seek the nomination of the KMT for the 2024 presidential election. Wang Hongwei said that she has just heard the news, but she believes that there will be a fair, just, transparent and testable election model in 2024.
