The Parliamentary Committee on Defense supported the annual report on the state of national security of Bulgaria in 2021.

Ten MPs voted "for" and three - "abstained".

The report contains information and assessments on internal political events, on processes of implementation of international projects and on events in conflict areas in other countries.

The complex and contradictory processes of an internal and external nature, which had a significant impact on the state of national security, were analyzed, the reasons for the project state.

According to the report, the dangers of a foreign policy nature for Bulgaria's national security in 2021 stem mainly from the tension along the Russia-Ukraine axis and the confrontation between the NATO and EU countries with Russia.

Migration pressure and instability in other regions of the world (Afghanistan, some African countries) continued to put pressure on the external borders of the state and, accordingly, on the countries of the European Union, it is also stated in the motives of the project.

The report presents the main activities of ministries and agencies related to detection and countermeasures against threats to national security, and with a view to implementing the country's National Security Strategy.

The main results of the activities of the security services and public order services for the protection of national security are indicated.

The adoption by the National Assembly of a decision on the project of the Annual Report on the State of National Security of Bulgaria in 2021 will also be of significant importance for the planning of activities for the protection of national security and the realization of national interests in the immediate and medium-term perspective, it is also said in the project.
