A woman and her 28-year-old son, who were trying to leave the country, were detained at the Krakow checkpoint.

The petitioner allegedly had the second group of disabilities, and his mother accompanied him. 

This is reported by the Prosecutor's Office of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. 

According to the investigation, the mother decided to make her 28-year-old son "disabled".

She was helped by a surgeon and a social worker who made false documents about her husband's illness.

"For $2,500, the surgeon made statements with false records regarding the woman's treatment and medical diagnoses, issued a written referral to the medical and social expert commission, and the social worker provided instructions and organized the movement of documents to establish disability. Having received the 2nd group of disability, the woman tried to cross the state border together with his 28-year-old son as an escort," the message reads.

However, the petitioner and his mother were detained at the checkpoint when they tried to leave the country.

The persons involved in the case were charged with suspicion under Part 3 of Art.

332, Part 1, 4 of Art.

358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. 

How evaders try to escape abroad 

Ukraine has been under martial law since February 24, during which conscripts are prohibited from traveling abroad.

However, some still try to leave the EU illegally.

 According to border guards, since the beginning of martial law, 12,000 men tried to leave Ukraine illegally, 15 of them died.

In particular, there is a well-known case when  two evaders

who fled to Romania

were found dead in the mountains of Transcarpathia.
