After the Chief Minister's order in Joshimath, Uttarakhand, all construction work, ongoing work on the highway and construction activities in NTPC have been completely banned.

But despite the ban, mountains are being cut with heavy machines in the dark of night in Joshimath.

The sound of machines can be heard for many kilometers.

This activity of cutting the mountain in the midst of the subsidence happening in Joshimath can prove to be quite fatal.

The work of cutting mountains with heavy machines is going on continuously.

While Joshimath is sinking everyday.

There is a ban on any kind of construction works.

But this work is being done under the nose of the police-administration.

After the cracks in Joshimath, the government has declared this area as a landslide zone.

With the construction work being stopped, people living in damaged houses are being taken to temporary relief centres.

The number of houses affected by cracks and land subsidence in Joshimath has gone up to 723.

The Chamoli unit of the Disaster Management Authority gave this information.

86 houses have been marked unsafe in the affected areas.

The district administration has put red marks outside such houses.

The people of Joshimath are still angry about rehabilitation and compensation.

However, the state government has announced to give Rs 4000 per month to the owners of the affected houses.
