Yury was held in a Russian detention center for five months, and another three months in a Belarusian detention center, reports Human Rights Center "Viasna".

According to the case materials, the accused contacted human rights organizations via the Internet, found political prisoners.

For the people found with the help of Kostyuk, money was transferred to a bank card, then he made transfers to the relatives of the convicted.

According to the indictment, only from February 27, 2021 to February 3, 2022, Kastiuk received payments for six citizens.

Yuri Kastiuk served his term for "insulting state symbols" and was released on January 6.

On February 15, he was detained by the KGB for his participation in the telegram chat of political prisoners "chemists" "Volleyball on weekends".

It is known that Kostyuk was severely beaten, there were suspicions of broken ribs.

He left for Russia, but in May 2022 he was detained in Sochi.

Yuri was awaiting extradition to Belarus in a Russian detention center.

Russian bailiffs took Yury to the airport for extradition on October 13.

At the same time, he was beaten on the way there and on the way back.



On October 16, 2022, Yury Kostyuk was secretly taken to Belarus and placed in the Pruzhanov pre-trial detention center, and later transferred to the Baranovitki pre-trial detention center-6.

It is known that he also suffered from cruel treatment there.

On December 7, his case was sent to court, and later he was transferred to Brest pre-trial detention center-7.
