All pensions that have been garnished at the request of a state/private bailiff or a public contractor to the National Revenue Agency will be paid by the National Social Security Institute (NSI) after January 11, 2023. This was announced by the press center of the NSI.

According to the institution's latest data, these are nearly 5,500 pensions.

The deadline is in line with the need for technological time to process the new amounts of deductions from these payments following the decree of the Council of Ministers published in the State Gazette on January 3, which set a new amount of the minimum wage for the country for 2023 - BGN 780 .

After the recalculations have been made, the transfers will be made depending on the method of payment of each pension - with a pension record, if it is paid through a post office, or with an additional transfer to the personal payment account of the pensioner, if it is paid through a bank or other payment service provider .

The amounts of deductions from pensions, for which the imposition of garnishments is permissible, are determined depending on the amount of the minimum wage for the country.

According to the current legislation, enforcement can only be directed at pensions with a monthly amount above the minimum wage.

Payment of pensions begins

No deductions are made from pensions below this amount.

The specified restrictions do not apply to deductions from pensions in fulfillment of maintenance obligations, informs the NISO.

Earlier this month, the institute announced that the payment of pensions in January 2023 through post offices will start on January 9 (Monday) and end on January 20 (Friday).

The schedule for all types of payments made by the National Insurance Institute to insured persons and pensioners is updated every month and is available on the institute's website.
