With a decision of the District Court in Haskovo at a meeting today, the execution of the European Arrest Warrant (EAW) was allowed for the 57-year-old Turkish citizen D.D., convicted of illegal migrant trafficking in Romania.

The international search warrant was issued by the District Court in the city of Arad, Republic of Romania, in connection with the execution of an effective sentence by which the man was convicted of two crimes committed in March and July 2020 - migrant trafficking, and his a penalty of "imprisonment" was imposed for a term of up to 3 years and 10 months.

The court accepted that the EZA issued meets all the requirements and contains all the necessary details required for its validity.

According to the described factual circumstances, in which the crimes were committed, for which D.D.

a penalty has been imposed, they are also penalties under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The decision is not subject to appeal.
