Only in the last day, 86 shellings by various artillery systems were carried out on Soledar and its surroundings.

This was announced by the spokesman of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhiy Cherevaty, on Channel 24.

According to him, heavy fierce battles are taking place near Soledar, the enemy has concentrated there the most combat-ready units of the "Wagneri" with the support of regular units of the Russian army.

The occupiers suffer colossal losses there, but try to move forward.

The spokesman of the Eastern Group explained that even a small tactical advance of the Russian Federation is presented as a great achievement.

Cherevaty noted that the main method of assaulting Soledar by the occupiers is the use of defeat systems, MLRS, barrel artillery.

Then, with their support, small groups of infantry advance.

"Yesterday, the president emphasized that the city was actually destroyed, and their (occupiers. - Ed.) logic of the war was not understood, because capturing ruins, as it happened before in Lysychansk and Severodonetsk, putting innumerable numbers of their troops, is in the military art of the 21st century century, is very strange," he said.

According to Cherevaty, the Ukrainian defenders are doing everything possible to exhaust the enemy.

"There is a very difficult situation there, the most difficult on the Eastern Front. It is the defenders of Soledar who are now doing everything possible to exhaust the enemy, to reduce his offensive potential as much as possible. So that even some tactical successes lead to a great pyrrhic victory," Serhiy Cherevaty concluded.

The Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Hanna Malyar, said yesterday that fierce fighting is ongoing near Soledar.

The occupiers regrouped, restored losses, transferred additional assault units, changed tactics and launched a powerful assault.
