"I am sure that the NATO membership process of Sweden and Finland will be completed."

APA reports that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this at a joint press conference with the President of the EU Council and the President of the European Commission.

"I believe that all allies, as well as Turkey, will ratify the protocols on the membership of these two countries in their parliaments.

This is the slowest process in the modern history of NATO, as you know, the accession process takes years, but in June all allies invited Sweden and Finland to NATO, including Turkey.

A document was signed between Turkey and two other countries, according to which the countries agreed to work together on issues of concern.

One of these issues was the arms export ban, which has now been lifted.

Work is being done and steps are being taken in the field of fighting terrorism.

Turkey has legitimate security concerns, understandably so, as no other ally of ours has suffered as much from terrorism as Turkey.

We welcome the steps taken by Sweden and Finland in this direction," NATO Secretary General noted.

Stoltenberg reminded that the situation has completely changed with the start of the NATO membership process of Finland and Sweden, documents on bilateral security cooperation have already been signed with these two countries, including the United States: "These two countries participate in NATO meetings, their NATO membership integration has accelerated.

If they face any threat, NATO will stand by Sweden and Finland."
