28-year-old David Bodil, wanted with an Interpol red notice, was detained today in the village of Ljubenovo, Nikopol municipality.

It turns out that his British grandparents bought a property there.

The name of a Bulgarian deputy was also involved in the case.

The Briton arrived in our country in November last year.

The authorities in Manchester issue an Interpol Red Notice for the search for Bodil in connection with an investigation into the preparation of terrorism and send a request for his detention in the country.

The British man was arrested today in the village of Ljubenovo by the Anti-Terrorism Squad.

During the search of the house in which the British citizen was detained, the police found literature on the preparation of a bomb.

Similar materials were found at Bodill's home in the UK last year.

Albena Simeonova (DB): The detained David Bodil has nothing to do with me

"The interesting thing is that in the Red Bulletin he is described as particularly dangerous, armed and aggressive. According to the international exchange, we have information that explosive substances, instructions and drawings for the preparation of explosive devices were found in his home in Great Britain. Today at search and seizure from the house in the village of Ljubenovo, where he was hiding, drawings and diagrams of how to make a bomb and how to detonate were found and seized. An expensive weapon was also found. Colleagues from the Pleven District Prosecutor's Office will detain the British citizen for a period of up to 72 hour with a view to securing him before the Pleven District Court for the initiation of extradition proceedings," said Siika Mileva, spokesperson for the chief prosecutor.

The arrest warrant for Bodil must be provided by the authorities in Manchester within 72 hours, and the extradition procedure will be handled under the Trade and Cooperation Agreement between Great Britain and the European Union, to which Bulgaria is a party.

According to national television sources, Bodil was detained in a property bordering an organic farming farm owned by MP Albena Simeonova.

She denied it to BNT, but confirmed that she knew the British man.

According to investigators in the UK, David Bodill had become radicalized in recent years after associating with far-right and neo-fascist groups in the UK.

At the end of November, in his profile on one of the social networks, Bodil announced that he was leaving Great Britain in order not to become a victim of British justice and had no intention of returning to his homeland.

It accuses the government in London of violating the rights of its citizens on a daily basis.

In his Facebook profile on November 28, David Bodil wrote:

“I have to inform all my friends that I am now a fugitive and will never return to the UK, at least not alive.

I'm sorry you'll never see me again.

The police intend to frame me for a victimless crime that shouldn't even be a crime in the first place.

If I go back to the UK I will spend many years in prison.

I'd rather die in a foreign country than spend my life in prison to satisfy a police officers ego and pay bonus.

Although I am not really surprised as I have known for some time that there is no freedom in the UK and the rights of its citizens are violated on a daily basis.

And at the same time it accuses other countries of the same.

This is hypocrisy.

The only time you'll see me again is in a body bag.

I will miss you.

At least my real friends.

Good luck in life."
