Latvia may transfer a new batch of Stinger anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine.

Such a decision may be announced at the next meeting of "Ramstein".

This was reported by the Minister of Defense of the country, Inara Murniece, in an interview with the national LSM broadcaster.

At the same time, the minister emphasized that the list of military support of Latvia for Ukraine is already "in the pocket".

"Actually, the Ukrainian front is our line of defense, so we are now thinking about how to join the large flow of aid to Ukraine and how to support Ukraine, how to respond to the request of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi," Murnietse said.

According to her, Latvia is considering the possibility of sending weapons to Ukraine and training the Ukrainian military.

"Meeting with Ukrainian colleagues, they express Latvia's greatest gratitude for those Stingers that came to the war, it was a very correct decision of the Ministry of Defense, as well as the former minister. We will continue to help with the Stinger, we will continue even more intensive training of the Ukrainian military in Latvia Murniece noted.

In addition, the minister drew attention to the fact that "Ukraine highly values unmanned aerial vehicles or drones", so Latvia could also continue their supply.

The minister reminded that in the second half of January, a conference on military aid to Ukraine will be held at the US Air Force base in Ramstein (Germany).

"Actually, the Ukrainian front is our line of defense, so we are thinking about how to join the large flow of aid, how to support Ukraine, how to respond to the requests of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi," said the head of the Latvian Ministry of Defense.

At the same time, Inara Murniece emphasized that it is necessary to seriously think about strengthening the defense of Latvia.

"Together with neighboring countries, we are thinking about providing air defense systems. Our neighbors started thinking earlier, I believe that we should also speed up the process," she said.

As a reminder, the next, eighth meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine will be held on January 20, 2023.

The heads of defense departments of 50 countries will take part in the meeting.
