The Ministry of Defense of Georgia (MoD) has denied the information that Kiev gave Georgia "Buk" missile systems during the 2008 war.

Tbilisi correspondent of APA informs that this was stated in the statement of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia.

It was noted that the information about Ukraine giving Georgia "Buk" systems free of charge is not true.

It was added that the said missile systems were purchased by Georgia in 2007 based on a secret agreement reached between the parties.

In the statement, it was noted that Georgia continues its humanitarian and political support to Ukraine, and already sent millions of tons of humanitarian aid.

It was added that there are also generators purchased by the Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili within the framework of humanitarian aid to Kyiv.

It should be noted that Ukraine's temporary charge d'affaires in Georgia, Andrey Kasyanov, stated in an article published in the Ukrainian press yesterday that Kyiv requested the return of the "Buk" missile complexes that Ukraine gave to Georgia during the 2008 war.

He also noted that Ukraine wants from Tbilisi the "Javelin" systems it bought from the United States.
