Alexander Lapin, the former commander of the Russian troops in Ukraine, has been appointed the Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces.

APA's Moscow correspondent reports that RBK reported on this with reference to its source in the Russian Ministry of Defense.

It should be noted that Colonel-General Alexander Lapin was the commander of the "Center" troop group in Ukraine.

After the heavy defeat of the Russian troops on the Ukrainian front in the summer of last year, the army leadership removed Lapin from his post.
