Despite the fact that all European countries continue to accept refugees from Ukraine and provide them with one or another assistance, the amount and type of this assistance varies depending on where the refugees have gone.

Some of the countries provide the opportunity to find a job, somewhere they provide housing, access to education or medical services.

Some countries provide financial aid - we will talk about it in the material.

Which countries provide aid to Ukrainian refugees in what amounts

Germany increases payments

Germany is one of the richest and most influential countries in Europe, which immediately began to help Ukraine with the beginning of the war.

With the beginning of the new year, 2023, the amount of payments for refugees from Ukraine in Germany has increased by 53 euros.

So, as of January, basic payments to forced migrants are:

  • 401 euros per adult,

  • 420 euros per teenager aged 14-17,

  • 348 euros per child 6-13 years old,

  • 318 euros per child up to 5 years old.

Canada pays CAD 3,000 one time

Canada is traditionally a country with a large number of immigrants, both from Ukraine and from all over the world.

After the start of a full-scale invasion, Ukrainians in Canada are accepted under the simplified Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel program.

This program provides for emergency departure to Canada with the possibility of staying there for up to two years.

Subscribers of this program can access the job market, education and medical services.

Refugees are also given a one-time financial assistance of 3,000 Canadian dollars (about 2,000 US dollars) per adult and 1,500 Canadian dollars (about 1,000 US dollars) per child under 17 years of age.

At the same time, it is worth considering that the cost of living in Canada is quite high, so you should leave with a certain amount of money before leaving for this country.

Yes, the amount of 10,000 US dollars should be enough to provide yourself with a "financial security cushion" for the first time in a North American country.

The minimum amount of assistance in Ireland is 830 euros per month

To receive financial assistance in Ireland, you need to contact the Department of Social Protection.

There you can get a PPSN - an individual number, by which you will receive financial assistance.

The minimum benefit amount is 830 euros per month for an adult.

Switzerland - 1,500 Swiss francs after financial assessment

In this Central European country, which is known for its stability, Ukrainians can also receive financial assistance.

For this, it is enough to issue the "S" status, which will allow you to find a job and get access to medicine.

If since the beginning of the Russian invasion, the Swiss government provided assistance in the form of 1,500 Swiss francs (1,525 US dollars) per month to all refugees from Ukraine, then, starting from August last year, stricter conditions for receiving cash payments were announced.

As of today, when issuing financial assistance, the financial situation of the recipient of payments is taken into account.

Thus, the assessment of the refugee's income level is affected by transactions with bank cards and the purchase of certain assets.

Poland - from 600 to 700 zlotys every month

The country that accepted the largest number of refugees from Ukraine cannot fully provide the visitors with everything they need, but it still provides some help to Ukrainians.

Thus, as of the beginning of 2023, there are about 1.5 million forced migrants in the country, many of whom need social and financial assistance.

It is precisely because of such a large number of refugees that there are certain restrictions on receiving financial assistance in the country.

For example, in case of departure from Poland, payments of financial assistance are frozen, and if a person stays abroad for more than 30 days, payments are stopped.

But still, despite the large number of refugees, refugees in Poland can receive from 600 to 700 zlotys every month, which is approximately 5,000 to 5,500 hryvnias.

Slovakia - the amount of financial assistance depends on the category of the recipient

Refugees with a low income receive state benefits in Slovakia.

At the same time, the amount of monetary assistance differs greatly depending on the category of people who receive it.

Yes, monthly payments in Slovakia are:

  • 69 euros for a single person,

  • 131 euros for persons with children,

  • 120 euros for childless couples,

  • 179 euros for couples with minor children,

  • 191 euros for single parents with children,

  • 241 euros for couples with many children (those with more than 4 children).

Czech Republic — from 4,890 to 5,234 crowns

Another West Slavic country, which has been helping Ukrainians since the beginning of the invasion, will be forced to reduce the amount of payments to refugees from 5,000 to 4,890 kroner (about 215 US dollars) in April.

Just like in Switzerland, the amount of financial assistance in the Czech Republic will depend on the income of the immigrant.

If the refugee's income exceeds a certain amount, financial assistance will not be provided to him.

At the same time, on the contrary, assistance will be increased for vulnerable sections of the population.

It will be 5,235 kroner (US$231) per child and 7,290 kroner (US$323) for pensioners or persons with disabilities.

The Netherlands - 260 euros per person

Income verification of refugees has already become a trend for European countries.

The Netherlands did not miss this trend, where from February 1, municipal authorities will stop paying families if any of the family members have income from work or benefits.

Today, the amount of payments for Ukrainians is 260 euros per person and does not depend on their age.
